A rock vinyl Gulls Window Circus show stuffed with recent releases, reissues, and RSD records. The unreleased Pavlov’s Dog 3rd LP found a recent release, The Public Image ‘First Issue’ RSD release doesn’t say it, but it has a completely different mix that was intended as the US release but never came out. There are four records that are not recent releases, reissues, or RSD: The Boston 1980 Bound & Gagged 12″ which I had been seeking for ages, a 1983 track by Gleaming Spires (who included Sparks members that stayed in L.A. when the Mael brothers moved overseas), a 1975 David Werner track, and The Twenty-Seven 7″ from 1979 (not related to the Boston band 27). Many treats in today’s show – engage and enjoy.

LP tracks spun in real time comprise this week’s Gulls Window Circus show. There are two 7″ snuck in (Barbara Manning and The Male Nurse) because I just couldn’t wait to play them on air. There are two John Braheny tracks, because this Riding Easy (the label that does the Brown Acid series) LP reissue bravely goes beyond the label’s established sound. Speaking of ‘beyond their established sound’, check out the Bryan Ferry/Amelia Barratt collaboration. Rock Workshop is the first appearance of Alex Harvey, so fans of The Alex Harvey Band take note. Rain Parade has come back strong with several recent LPs. Today we hear a catchy track from their newest release, a 12″. Speaking of catchy, Peter Holsapple’s LP has a few, including the track you hear today. Where can you hear The Mommyheads paired with Pulp? Here, of course. An LP tracks rock show in groups of 3. Was good to hear Orange Juice and Band Of Outsiders (who went perfectly with Love And Rockets). Coil tested my skills getting rid of the FCC violations. New Sparks is way better than I hoped. The ‘Keep It In Motion’ GBV tribute comp on Bunnygrunt’s Silly Moo Records brings 2 awesome tracks to the second hour. The In Camera / PIL segue that close out the second hour works so well. Every song has a story – listen and love.

Carl’s living room means vinyl LP tracks played on a real turntable in real time. A well put together rock show awaits you. With lots of unusual pairings that work well. Ed Gein’s Car paired with Jefferson Airplane? Yup. Christie McVie paired with Dream Syndicate? Yes again – many such pairings (my faves include Wire w/Tad, Dictators w/Pandora). You get a double dose of Bob Mould, with him even sounding like Psychedelic Furs on one of them. The show ends with an unknown 1979 7″ out of Maine (The Bumstead’s) sent by a Gulls Window Circus listener.
