All Boston show, by no means exhaustive or period-specific, just a quick grab of Boston artists I wanted to hear today! I draw special attention to the I Love You track. That was a side project of Paul from the 90s band Pie, which is really great, The 2×4’s (pre-Turbines John Hovorka), Sperm Bank Babies (Willy Alexander) and Black Cat Bone (Jeri Rossi).

The show starts off with instrumental relaxation courtesy Steve Hiett then Durutti Column, picks up a jangle for East Village then Fantastic Something, before careening off a cliff with Armand Schaubroeck Steals, where we stay for the remainder of the show, with several tracks by the Australian band Asteroid B-612 distributed throughout. Looks like Australia and Detroit are getting some attention, particularly (though not exclusively) in the second hour.

Gary Crowley created stirs with his Lost 80s and punk and new wave sets, but before that, in 2004, he released a set ‘Where The Action Is! (40 Mod, Soul, Ska & R&B Classics From The Sixties!)’ on Discotheque/Sanctuary. It was build on an interesting concept, one CD of the first wave Mod bands, and the second CD the original R’n’B artists that inspired them. Today’s show mines both discs, throwing a few odds at the end of the second hour as well. The Charles Dickens track ‘In The City’ is going through my head right now.
