The fourth week of recorded-from-home shows to accommodate the closure of WZBC due to COVID-19. The first hour is an electronic/international vinyl only set, but my cable situation is introducing ground issues, so sound quality is less than optimal (new cable on its way), the second hour is aces with all rock, focusing on poppy stuff.

In the second hour we skirt genre, time and space to visit Oslo Norway with Wet Dreams, England with The DaVincis, TVP, and Tony Caro & John, then Scotland with Donovan and Caedmon, along with Portland OR for Blackwater Holylight, and L.A. with The Gears and Delaney & Bonnie.

The show covers an assortment of tracks with lineage to Crazy Horse and a track from Boston’s Billy Bacon from his 1982 ‘Billy’s Revue’ that has The Maps/Flies/Christmas bassist Dan Salzmann playing on it. Second hour has a 2013 dBs track from a 12″, along with classic Barbara Manning (World Of Pooh). Everything fits with its neighbors – a good listen all the way through.

All vinyl show of bands that defied fame (with the exception of The Slickee Boys and The Real Kids). Many were part of popular bands before going solo (Chris Cacavas = Grren On Red, Russ Tolman = True West, Jay Ferguson = Jo Jo Gunne, Joe Vitale = Joe Walsh, Viv Albertine = The Slits. Some were just destined to become treasured discoveries for future generations (Brett Smiley, Secret Machines). All belong in your heart, and all will be heard today.
