Today’s Gulls Window Circus CD-only show has a one- off feature: Each of the two hours have the exact same artists in the exact same order, with different songs in each hour. So you get two views off each artist’s sound. I frequently wonder about how certain song choices present artists in a way that highlights what is an unusual sound for them. This week really doesn’t address that concern, it just gives you 2 songs I like a lot from each. Week five of seven in the Gulls Window Circus New England series. This is a CD-only show, with some aha moments as tracks I haven’t heard in some time resurface to bring joy. It feels like a town hall meeting to me, as I have personal history with so many of todays artists, and know that you will find a lot of songs to love in this 2 part seaside hike. Week four of seven in the Gulls Window Circus New England series starts the CD portion, and also provides an in-studio interview with Tommy White of The Mighty Ions, Unnatural Axe, The Fabulous Billygoons, The Beachmasters and The Beachcombers. Most enjoyable new find was the Calef Brown/Clementown CD, which takes the two children’s books Polkabats and Octopus Slacks, and Dutch Sneakers and Flea-Keepers and puts the books to song. Every single track in parts 1 and 2 are rather crucial, I really hope you get to listen to them all.

Week one of seven in the Gulls Window Circus New England series. Most of the bands are Boston-based, but the allowance for neighboring states [ME, RI, NH, VT, CT] was added to allow inclusion of some very worthy bands. The first three weeks are vinyl-only, and last two weeks are CD-only. As usually, Gulls Window Circus only plays physical product [would love to play cassettes, but my player gave up the ghost]. This series focuses on bands that appeared during or after the punk revolution. There are a ton of 80s release, many 90s releases, some 70s, and some post-00 bands. Sperm Bank Babies = Will Alexander, Chord Rockers & Future Dads = Richie Parsons, Hypnosonics are Morphine related (you probably knew all that!). Now lets listen and discover some new music.

The third of 3 weeks of CD shows has Gulls Window Circus’s first interview in ages – at the start of the second hour The Yellow Melodies talk about their ‘Pleasant Dreams’ record, which is a song-by-song Ramones cover record. That should not reduce excitement about the other tracks. Every single track is a thrill that it would be a shame for you to miss. Florida’s The Stargazer Lilies are here from a Part Time Punks session, Oslo faves Mats Wawa are here (just announced a new record!), Wreckless Eric is here as The Len Bright Combo. The Strait-Jackets (Allen Esser just released a Primitive Romance CD) are here. Catalonia duo Tarta Relena and another track from the impossible-to-find Catamount CD appear as well.

The second of 3 weeks of CD shows on Gulls Window Circus brings a wide group of artists of various era and geographies together in two one hour sets of complimentary tracks. Form 1972 Spanish band Formula V and Los Angeles Rock Flowers (associated with Mattel dolls of the same name) to 1980 former Milk ‘N’ Cookies member Ian North and 1982 US Power pop great unknown Bruce Moody, every artist has a story on this show, and all have great sounds to accompany them.
